UCI Hosts 2nd Annual Lunar New Year Celebration

Building off the success of 2016’s inaugural Lunar New Year celebration, the UCI Long Institute and its partners the School of Social Sciences, School of Law, The Paul Merage School of Business in concert with the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, School of Medicine, School of Humanities, School of Social Ecology, and UCI Libraries hosted the 2017 Lunar New Year celebration on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 3:30-6:30pm in the Social Sciences Plaza. South Coast Plaza sponsored the VIP "Lucky Rooster Lounge" and 7 restaurant booths each donated 1200+ plates of food and drink. We had over 8,400 plates underwritten by Henry Huang 97’, Pick Up Stix, Panda express, Pei Wei, PF Chang’s, 85 Degrees, Paradise Bowls, and 2,400 drinks donated by Starbucks and Cha Tea. The Year of the Rooster was celebrated with live cultural entertainment, featuring dragon and lion dancing, martial arts, drumming, ribbon dance, wishing tress, Chinese music and much more. Admission was free and open to the public.
